Developments relating to the electric power train
As a leading international provider of painting and production technology for the automotive industry, Dürr is intensively engaged with production technologies in the area of electric mobility.
Based on its competence and experience in final assembly technology and automation, Dürr focuses on the development of production systems for all aspects of vehicle batteries. New concepts are developed both for installing the battery in the vehicle and for assembling individual batteries.
Within the scope of these developments, Dürr is active in a wide range of development projects in the Baden-Württemberg leading-edge cluster. The project entitled “Project planning of quality-oriented, series-flexible battery production systems (ProBat)” is intended to facilitate research into concepts and instruments for the planning and controlling of quality-oriented battery system manufacturing. Dürr acts in its capacity of project leader to implement this project together with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and well-known industrial partners.
System layouts and quality assurance systems are methodically investigated for their safety and cost-efficiency, evaluated and bundled in a software-based planning tool. This enables the scalable presentation of production systems from small through to large-volume production.
The plant manufacturer Dürr Systems AG (project leader) and the KIT as scientific partner are joined on this project by the automotive company Daimler AG and the system provider for multi-dimensional measuring technology Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH as they work together to drive forward the production of vehicle batteries in Germany.
